Interests: talking and hearing about how amazing God is, all that he has done, all that he is doing and all that he has promised to do! i love playing on the swings, having nonsensical conversations just so we can laugh, hanging out with friends- especially siblings in Christ, listening to and making music (favorite definatly being the acoustic guitar). Getting lost in life, helping others, taking walks and flip flops.
Expertise: I am especially good at wearing flip flops during inopportune times- like when its raining or snowing or just freakishly cold in general. I enjoy making people laugh and just having fun- being real - doing life together.

WOW you guys are behind, huh?

I was just looking at the last few posts and I realized how pathetically I've been keeping you guys posted on the goings on here.

Here are a few updates you should probably know about:
- I now live in a 2 bdrm apt in North Dallas with 4 other (thats right 4 other) amazing ladies (plus a female cat named Grace)
- I now work at Bank of America on N. Haskell by Criswell (I am no longer a nanny of any sort)
- I am still dating the fabulous and disgustingly cute man shown in last post with pictures below (its been almost 6 months now)
- I will soon be attending membership classes at The Village Church which I've been going to for about a year now.
- I'm still a student at The Criswell College- taking 12 hours and working around 30 hours (whew!!! its alot)
- I co-lead a village girls small group associated with UTD (we're going through Genesis)
- I'm taking greek this semester (its hard!)

I think that about covers it! You are much closer to up to date :)

more later,

I have 4 friends that got engaged this past friday night. It seems like everytime I sign on facebook- at least once a month, i see wedding pictures from another person I knew in high school or junior high or from UNT.

It really IS that age isn't it? I have a feeling this summer will be as full of weddings (if not more full) as this past summer. Wow.

I love this song:

There are many prodigal sons
On our city streets they run
Searching for shelter
There are homes broken down
People's hopes have fallen to the ground
From failures

This is an emergency.

There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We're crying for them come back home
We're crying for them come back home
And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home

There are schools full of hatred
Even churches have forsaken
Love and mercy
May we see this generation
In its state of desperation
For Your glory

This is an emergency.

There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We're crying for them come back home
We're crying for them come back home
And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home

Sinner, reach out your hands!
Children in Christ you stand!
Sinner, reach out your hands!
Children in Christ you stand!

There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We're crying for them come back home
We're crying for them come back home
And all Your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home

its beautiful isn't it?

I need a job. NOW!!!

I have found the seemingly perfect job opportunity. M-F from 1-7 and sometimes on Saturday, the pay is right (which is amazing), the hours are right and the location is perfect.

please, please, please pray with me on this or that God will soon provide something else before I go insane looking.

please and thanks,

Chelsa

Go and tell

Here's a general review of the conversation my professor (Dr. Streett), my fellow student (Ali) and our waiter in san Antonio (Mark) had about Jesus.

Mark was a really open guy- personality wise which went great. and the conversation went something like this:

ali: do you know jesus?

mark: uh. I dont really talk about religion or politics

ali: ahh! but its not religion, its a relationship, its about a person!

streett: what ali is trying to say is that we're not trying to indoctrinate you into a particular religion- he just wants to tell you about a man thats changed his life and wanted to know if you've ever met him

mark: ahh. ok. There was this street preacher i stopped to listen to for a second, and started to walk off but he pulled me aside and said i could leave till he said I could leave. Then he just yelled at me about Jesus and the bible. and then earlier this week I saw this guy reading a book. I love to read- so i asked him what it was and it was the bible! he recommended a few books for me to check out, and even brought to me day or so later!

Ali: Right right. so do you believe in God?

mark: I'm an athiest

ali: let me ask you a question... how much of the world's knowledge do you think you posess?

mark: i dont know... maybe .15%

Street: are you an open minded or closed minded athiest? Or, do you think there is no possiblity of a god existing or that he might exist, you just dont know?

Mark: open minded. i'm open to hearing about anybody's beliefs and considering them!

Ali: so .15% of the worlds knowledge?

Mark: yah... maybe less, im not sure.

streett: well do you think it might be possible that God exists outside that .15% of knowledge that you have?

mark: *laughs* well... i dont know, man.

streett: well. We're here talking to you about it because this man that's Christ has changed our lives! And the gift he offers is open to all people- we can't help talking about how he's worked in our lives, and thats why my friend Ali mentioned it to ya. All of us here have been changed by this Christ man and we just wanted to see if you knew him

mark: cool cool.

Streett: so if a God did exist, do you think you would do whatever it took to know him?

mark: im not sure. i mean... I'm grateful he created me and all but...

Streett: if there is a God that created and made you and loves you, would you do whatever it takes to know him?

mark: i'm  not sure... I mean... I have asked God to show himself to me

Streett: well here we are, and it sounds like with the books you got earlier this week and then us comming now talking to you, God is working. We're here to tell you that he does exist, he is real and encourage you to pursue knowing him.

and the conversation went on from there and they talked abit more, But you could tell that no one had EVER told this man the gospel in such a loving and personal way. He looked at us more affectionatly and even ran after us when someone had forgotten their bible on the table. i'm excited for what God might do in him later :)

thats just an outline for ya to look at. Its amazing how  much we stress and fuss over just a conversation that if we would only open our mouths is sometimes so simple!! hearing ali and streett just TALK and have a normal conversation with that waiter was so encouraging to my spirit, hearing them telling this man who had been beaten and yelled at by preachers before and now hearing it from someone telling him that they just wanted him to know this man thats changed their lives that they owe everything to! It was like basking in the sun- just the radiance of Christ and his sweet message that reminds our own hearts of when he saved us.

i hope this encourages your heart and that you'll be able to go and take it to the streets or coffee shops or wherever you go- its really  hard and awkward to begin with, i wont deny that. but it gets so much easier with time and practice!

so go practice.

love,
Chelsa

Hello there! I have finally returned from the SBC trip (Southern Baptist Convention).

It was really hard to be away for the 5 day trip, let me tell ya why.
I desperatly needed a break from class bible study this summer, just from the sbc atmosphere and the intellectualism of being a bible student- I need time to sit and just bask in our Savior without having a thousand theories running through my brain. I want my heart and mind to be at rest for a minute and have time to finish digesting what I've been feed intellectually this past semester, because if i didn't have a break to digest, then it would all just be intellectual vomit- there for a few minutes and then back up again because there isn't any more room in me right now!  So the trip was also amazing because it did touch my heart instead of my brain- getting to know again many of the Criswell students (there were 14 in all- 7 guys: Brad, Matt, Steven, Paul, Andy, Ali, Don and 7 girls: Laura, Ginger, Michelle, Mio, Sue, Dawn and I) and hearing the professors hearts (i know worthington, daddy streett and overstreet so much better now!) It was just a really good experience and now being able to say that in those 5 days I've done half a semester of work (6 credit hours) is also a delight!

Lets talk about evangelism.
During the trip we were required for the Evangelism class to do 2 hours of evangelism inside the convention center and 2 hours outside the convention center. I'm not sure everyone was able to get in all 4 hours everyday amongst going to the actual convention whenever possible, manning the TCC booth for 2 hours each day, scavenging for food during meals and trying to stay sane and alive. It was quite a challenge to fit all that in!

Let me say that street or confrontational evangelism seeems to always be awkward but I cant deny the fruit that it does produce in many of the cases. I've also been refreshed in seeing the heart some people have for it- I was really encouraged by Worthington, Streett and Ali in particular.

There was one point in the trip when a whole group of us went out to eat while the convention was on break for dinner, it was abot 7 of us students and then Dr. Streett and his wife. Ali straight out asked the waiter if he knows Jesus and things went on from there. Our waiter was named Mark and was an atheist so Ali started asking a few questions that Streett just earlier this past semester had taught us to ask to get to know an Atheist and where they stand better! It was amazing, to have student and professor right there- enacting the very thing we'd been taught with gentleness, love and sincerity. I really do attend quite an amazing school.

It was a fantastic trip but I'm so glad to be back now.

I was also excited to be able to get a few books on sale: A shepherd looks at the 23rd psalm, a small ESV bible like the one I gave away last semester, Pilgrims Progress, Systematic Theology, Bible References for Counseling Women, Criswells Expository sermons over Revelations, and The Practice of the Presence of God.

Alright. Well I'll talk to ya'll more later- I'm off to listen to Chandlers sermon that I missed this weekend- its over the talents- can't wait to hear it! :)

in Him,
Chelsa
